Who We Are

Rusdi grew up surfing one of the most demanding breaks on earth. That background shaped everything about how he teaches — patient, instinctive, always reading the ocean, always reading the person in front of him.
But ask anyone who's had a lesson with him and the first thing they'll tell you isn't about technique. It's about how good they felt. Rusdi has a happiness that's genuinely contagious — a smile that shows up in the water whether it's your first wave or your fiftieth, a laugh that makes falling off feel like part of the fun. Sessions with him don't feel like lessons. They feel like the best morning of your trip.
Desert Point in Lombok is one of the most respected surf breaks in the world — a long, fast, hollow left-hander that breaks over a shallow reef and rewards only those who truly know the ocean. It is not a place you visit casually.
Rusdi grew up here. The break is in his muscle memory, in his instincts, in the way he reads a set approaching from the horizon. When he teaches, that knowledge flows through everything — the way he positions you, the waves he sends you on, the timing he gives you.
There are very few surf instructors in Bali who can say that. Rusdi is one of them.
LA ONDA CO. was born from a simple idea — that the best surf experiences aren't about performance or progression charts. They're about connection. To the ocean, to yourself, to the pure joy of riding something wild and natural.
We started with private lessons in Bali because that's where the story begins. Personal, flexible, unhurried. Built around each person who comes to us, wherever they are in their relationship with the ocean.

How We Work
Every session runs at your pace. There's no clock, no curriculum, no pressure to perform. Just you, Rusdi, and the ocean.
Rusdi doesn't shout from the shore. He's in the water with you — guiding, adjusting, celebrating every small win.
Bali has dozens of breaks. Rusdi chooses the one that matches your level and the conditions on the day. Always the right wave for you.
First timer or experienced surfer chasing something bigger — LA ONDA sessions are built for everyone who wants to feel the ocean properly.

Do I need any experience?
None at all. Rusdi has taught complete beginners to experienced surfers and adapts entirely to your level. If you've never been on a board, that's completely fine.
What's included in a lesson?
Board hire is included. We meet you at the agreed spot — no transport provided, but Rusdi will tell you exactly where to go and what to expect.
Which beach do you use?
Rusdi chooses the right spot based on conditions and your level on the day. Usually somewhere along the Bukit or Canggu coast. We'll confirm in advance.
How far in advance should I book?
As early as you can, but we do our best for last minute requests too. WhatsApp is the fastest way to check availability.
